Invermay Primary School is located on the corner of Holbrook and Mayne Streets, Invermay, Tasmania. The school was established in 1889 and has a tradition of providing quality state funded education in Years K – 6 from the surrounding community. Like all Tasmanian government schools, Invermay Primary is committed to the goal that every student has the opportunity to learn and achieve at his or her potential. The school is guided by the ‘LEARNERS FIRST' Framework and embraces the government’s priority areas including Literacy and Numeracy – improving the basic literacy and numeracy skills of all school-aged children.
Invermay Primary School is commited to working with its community and supporting teachers working together designing personalised learning opportunities for all students. Early Learning programs for children from birth to 4 years old are run weekly, offering learning experiences that will help you to prepare both your child and yourself to ‘start school’. The Early Learning Centre enables the school to offer 15 hours of Kindergarten for its youngest students. Small class sizes in Prep to Year 2 allow all early childhood children to focus on developing strong literacy and numeracy skills.
The school’s curriculum is supported by a diverse range of resources and facilities including a fully enclosed above-ground pool, physical education teacher, canteen and catering facilities and specialist music teachers.
Invermay Primary School has a strong culture that promotes leadership and prepares children with the necessary skills and opportunities to become leaders.
Most importantly, it seeks to develop the pupils’ attitude and ability for ‘life-long learning’.
Information is available through the Invermay Primary School office.
